Exploring the townscapes of Medieval Roscommon

Brian Shanahan is an NUI, Galway Hardiman Scholar undertaking PhD research on landscape archaeology with a particular focus on County Roscommon. His more recent PhD research has focused on SfM photogrammetry at different scales, combined with geophysics and historic cartography. He was Assistant Director of the Discovery Programme’s Medieval Rural Settlement Project between 2003-2011 during which time he led excavations and surveys of many sites in County Roscommon including Relignaree.
