Maggie Ronayne: National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG)
Maggie Ronayne lectures in archaeology at the National University of Ireland, Galway. For nearly two decades she has specialised in the development of public archaeology with projects in Ireland, Turkey and Mexico. Her research has supported grassroots communities in a number of countries facing large scale development projects which impact on people, their environment and heritage. Since 2010, she has worked on a number of initiatives in community archaeology in Ireland including the establishment of the Burren Community Archaeology Project. Her current research takes a community archaeology approach to the study of 19th century rural Ireland and the Great Famine.
