In 1270, a triumphant Aedh O’Conchobair succeeded where William Braveheart Wallace, failed, pulling off a sensational victory over the English in the Battle of Connacht, at Áth an Chip. The Norman expansion across the British Isles, which commencing at Hastings in 1066, was arguably halted in this spectacular defeat in North Roscommon and South Leitrim. Now, for the first time, the true story of the Battle of Connacht story, at Áth an Chip 1270, is revealed.
