Waterford County Museum
Waterford County Museum is located in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, and is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the locality. The Museum is operational largely through voluntary effort and relies on the generosity of the public – both financially, and in terms of the donation of artifacts.
In June 2015, committee members organised a Community Archaeology weekend using Geophysical survey techniques to determine the origins of 'Gallowshill' a large earthen mound on the outskirts of Dungarvan town. The group have discovered interesting features associated with the mound and hope to continue their explorations in 2016.
The project has been the first step to regenerating a neglected monument with support of the local community.
