Balsaw Hill Standing Stone - what lies beneath?

Kilberry Amenity and Heritage Group are actively engaged in researching and presenting their local cultural heritage, primarily through geophysical surveys of archaeological sites. Kilberry lies to the west of the Boyne Valley Complex of monuments, east of Kells, south of the Loughcrew megalithic complex and north of the Hill of Tara. A LiDAR image of the standing stone on the Hill of Balsaw was the catalyst for a multi-method geophysical surveying programme during Heritage Week 2015. Previous sites surveyed by the group include a barrow, ringfort and souterrain.
